P. Diddy, Jay-Z,Dr. Dre and 50 Cent; they are some of the richest hip-hop artists in history. On the other end of the pay scale, however, are those who have not made it as big as these four. Here are top 10 poorest rappers in the world.

10. Canibus - $8 million

His real name is Germaine Williams, but this rapper of Jamaican and American descent is better known by his stage name of Canibus. He rose to prominence during the 90s. He used to be part of different groups like The Hrsmn, Sharpshooterz, Cloak N Dagga, The Undergods and T.H.E.M. He used to be considered as one of the top MCs of all time, with one hip-hop and rap magazine even crowning him as one of the top 50 lyricists of all time. Canibus was a former member of the US Army, enlisting a year after the 9/11 Twin Towers disaster. He was discharged, however, two years later after he got caught smoking marijuana.

9. Big Daddy Kane - $7.4 million

His real name is Antonio Hardy but he uses the stage name of Big Daddy Kane. He started out his rap career in the mid 80s as a member of the group called Juice Crew. His song entitled “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” is considered by the influential Rolling Stones magazine as one of the greatest songs of the hip-hop genre of all time. He is considered as one of the top lyricists and greatest MCs of all time, having a profound influence on current rappers like Eminem and Proof.

8. Tony Yayo - $7 million

Tony Yayo is the stage name of Marvin Bernard. He is a member of the hip-hop group called G-Unit, part of the record label of 50 Cent. As a matter of fact, Tony Yayo serves as the Chief Executive Officer of G-Unit Philly. He was part of several mix tapes in the past before he came to prominence with the release of the song called “So Seductive.” He has served a lot of jail time for various felonies, including weapons possession, bail jumping and possessing a forged passport. He was also charged with assault after a run-in with the son of Jimmy Rosemond, the manager of The Game.

7. KRS-One - $6 million

KRS-One stands for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone. His real name is Lawrence Krisna Parker and he is also known as Teacha. He is considered as one of the pioneers of hip-hop music and its culture. He is also an active supporter of the Stop the Violence Movement, an effort that was recognized by the BET Awards in 2008 with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has been involved in controversies, especially after the 9/11 plane crashes when he infamously said that he cheered when it happened. He has since clarified his comment to explain that he meant that he was just happy that the establishment took a hit and not because of the people who died in the deadly attack.

6. Jadakiss - $6 million

Jadakiss is an American rapper whose real name is Jason Phillips. He is part of the hip-hop group called The LOX, which in turn is part of the collective called Ruff Ryders. He is also part of D-Block. He has had his share of controversies, even once getting the attention of conservative Fox news commentator Bill O’Reilly after Jadakiss expressed in his song his belief that then-President George W. Bush coordinated the 9/11 attack. He was also involved in feuds with Jay-Z and other artists of Roc-a-Fella Records, P. Diddy and 50 Cent. He was also arrested for marijuana and gun possession. His feuds were later resolved and he is now part of the Roc-a-Fella stable of artists.

David Styles, or Styles P, is also part of the group called The LOX and Ruff Ryders, alongside Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. His first solo record was released in 2002 with an album called “A Gangster and a Gentleman.” He then released several follow-ups over the years, including “Time is Money,” “Super Gangster (Extraordinary Gentleman),” “Master of Ceremonies,” “The World’s Most Hardest MC Project” and “Float.” He has also written a novel called “Invincible” in 2010. He also has his own juice bar in the Bronx called Juices for Life.

Sheek Louch is the stage name of Sean Divine Jacobs. He also goes by the names of Donnie G and Donnie Def Jam. He is also a member of the LOX and D-Block, alongside Styles P and Jadakiss. He released his first album in 2003 called “Walk Witt Me.” He later on released “After Taxes,” “Silverback Gorilla,” “Life on D-Block” and “Donnie G: Don Gorilla.” He has toured with Ghostface Killah and members of the Wu-Tang Clan and D-Block, all of whom are now collaborating with one another for an album.

His real name is Earl Simmons, but he is better known by his stage name of DMX or Dark Man X. He is actually one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of all time and it all began in 1999 with the album “…And Then There Was X” which spawned the single entitled “Party Up (Up in Here).” He has appeared in movies like “Belly,” “Romeo Must Die,” “Exit Wounds,” “Cradle 2 the Grave” and “Last Hour.” He has had several run-ins with the law, including charges for animal cruelty, reckless driving, unlicensed driving, drug possession, identity falsification, rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment and marijuana possession.

Brad Terrence Jordan is better known by his stage name of Scarface. He is considered as one of the top lyricists and greatest MCs of all time. He has released 11 albums, starting with the 1991 record “Mr. Scarface is Back.” He is popular among other rappers despite his lack of appeal in the commercial market.

David Darnell Brown is better known as Young Buck, a former member of UTP Playas and G-Unit. He is the President of Ca$hville Records, though he is currently serving time in prison for gun possession. He has released six albums, including two studio records called “Straight Outta Cashville” and “Buck the World.” He has had feuds with other rappers, like 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled and The Game.
