Kate Hudson's career kicked off with her iconic performance as Penny Lane in the Cameron Crowe movie, Almost Famous. She won a Golden Globe Award for her performance and was also nominated for an Academy Award. Since then, she has gone on to become an A-Lister in Hollywood.

Almost Famous (2000)
Almost 20 years ago, Almost Famous was released. Despite the film underperforming at the box office initially, it has gone on to become a cult classic and a favored film among many. Critics loved it and it was nominated for numerous awards.
The movie follows a young journalist who follows the rock band, Stillwater, on a tour to try and get a cover story with the publication Rolling Stone. Hudson stars as Penny Lane, one of the most notable Stillwater groupies who takes William under her wing and shows him the ropes of life on the road in the crazy music industry. The film also stars Frances McDormand, Billy Crudup, Anna Paquin, and Patrick Fugit. Almost Famous earned $47 million in total.
Nine (2009)
Based on the 1982 musical, Nine stars Kate Hudson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, and Sophia Loren. The film was directed by Rob Marshall. It earned $53 million worldwide.

The film follows X (Day-Lewis) who is struggling with incredibly difficult problems in his regular life while still trying to manage all of the women in his life. Nine was nominated for four Academy Awards in total. Despite its stellar cast, the movie only managed to receive mixed reviews from critics. That said, it's still a worthwhile movie to watch, especially if you're a fan of musical films.
Something Borrowed (2011)
This 2011 romantic comedy film is based on the book of the same name written by Emily Giffin. It stars John Krasinski, Kate Hudson, and Ginnifer Goodwin. Giffin also wrote a sequel novel and a script for the movie, although there aren't plans to turn it into a movie as of yet. It made $60 million at the box office, making back almost half of its $35 million budget.
Something Borrowed follows a complicated relationship between three people, Rachel, Darcy, and Dex. Rachel and Darcy are best friends and Darcy is about to marry Dex. But then Dex and Rachel meet and realize they used to have a crush on each other. Rachel has to make a decision between the potential love of her life and her best friend.
The Skeleton Key (2005)
Kate Hudson stars in this terrifying film as a hospice worker taking care of an elderly man in an aging plantation located in New Orleans. Hudson plays Caroline Ellis, and upon arrival at the house, she uses a skeleton key to explore the attic where she discovers a range of strange ritual items.

Caroline begins to realize that the house is concealing a twisted and dark past. The film went on to earn more than $90 million at the worldwide box office. The movie also stars Peter Sarsgaard and Joy Bryant.
Fool's Gold (2008)
Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson team up once again for another romantic comedy called Fool's Gold. The dynamic duo managed to earn more than $111 million at the box office for their 2008 collaboration.
In this film, McConaughey portrays a treasure hunter indebted to a rap star. He discovers the coordinates to a legendary dig site where he'll be attempting to recover a Spanish treasure and reap the glory. In the process, he must also persuade his ex and his diving partner, Tess (Hudson), to join him once again and perhaps reignite their former passion.
Bride Wars (2009)
While Bride Wars was largely panned by critics due to its stereotypical portrayal of women and the number of cheap cliches and tropes the movies utilize. That said, the romantic comedy film stars Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson as a pair of best friends who do everything together.

They've also fantasized about their dream wedding day since they were children. When they both wind up engaged at the same time it seems like a dream come true, until one of them has to give up their perfect wedding venue and best friends turn into enemies. The movie went on to make $114 million at the worldwide box office.
Deepwater Horizon (2016)
Kate Hudson actually played a rather minor role in this drama movie based on the true story of a massive oil drilling rig known as the Deepwater Horizon. The rig exploded in 2010 and lead to many deaths and one of the worst oil spills in history.
Along with Hudson, the movie also stars Mark Wahlberg in the title role with Hudson playing his wife back home. Dylan O'Brien and Gina Rodriguez also star in the 2016 film. Considering Wahlberg is generally box office gold, it's no surprise the movie raked in $121 million worldwide.
You, Me and Dupree (2006)
Molly (Kate Hudson) and Carl (Matt Dillon) Peterson are living out their days in happy marital bliss when everything changes. Dupree (Owen Wilson), Carl's old friend from college, gets displaced from his home after a series of misfortunes and asks to crash on the Peterson's couch.

Molly isn't necessarily overjoyed at the announcement and Dupree proves to throw quite the wrench in their family home in this fun romantic comedy film. Overall, You, Me and Dupree made $130 million.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
In this classic romantic comedy, Matthew McConaughey stars as Benjamin Barry, an ad executive who is trying to prove to his boss he can make a woman fall in love with him within 10 days to earn a lucrative account.
On the other side is Kate Hudson's character, Andie Anderson, who is trying to get better article bylines. She is doing research on writing a story about how to lose a guy in 10 days. The movie went on to earn nearly $200 million, stopping just shy at $177 million.
Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016)
Po the panda returns in this 2016 film and the third movie in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Kate Hudson voices the character Mei Mei in the movie. The story follows Po when his father returns after being lost for years.
They travel to a new land full of colorful new characters until a new villain named Kai rises. The film earned more than half a billion dollars at the box office with the final number being around $521 million.
